Under the guidance of Mahaanui community relations staff, Grant Campbell and Cody Frewin, the first stages of restoring the Tauhinu-Korokio Scenic Reserve have already begun. Long term plans for the area include a connecting path with the Major Hornbrook track, to form an historic trail running between the farm and Lyttelton quarry, complete with interpretation panels depicting images of the early farmhouses and their occupants. Plans also include the replanting of native vegetation to complement and enhance the stone walls, providing sheltered places for picnickers and walkers.
